Christmas Eve Eve: shopping with Sister ... FUN!!!

Christmas Eve: with the fam, ate Pizza Hut, went to church and saw Emily Straley!!, read the Christmas story (this year from The Message in addition to KJV), got on our knees and prayed together (oh I love my family), opened presents, and played a game that Dad created with about a million rules but in which I won money, woot woot!

Christmas Day: Sommers family came to the farm.

Day after Christmas: Back to the Cities, hung out with Trix and Megs.

Wednesday: Back to work, dinner with whit and eir, hung out with them, trix, megs, and amanda for a little bit, and went to bed ...

Thursday: Work again. Cleaned my room tonight; it looks FANTASTIC!

Tomorrie: Rochester with eir! Hooray!

warning: this might sound weird, but let's be honest ... my family IS weird.

there is something about my mom and dad's bed that draws the family to it ... the WHOLE family. whenever we're all home together, we seem to eventually all end up in their bed, talking.

today when i got home, mom, kristin, and kevin (in the middle) were already there. i joined. when dad came home from work, he got in too.

no, their bed is not that big. it used to SEEM much bigger when we were little kids and did this, but now we are five adults in ONE BED. hahahaha! oh how i LOVE my family!

they are so wonderful; i am blessed.

sister and i went Christmas shopping tonight, and it was a blast! she took me out for supper, but they screwed up my order and gave it to us for free, so i think she still owes me. :-) we got lots of GREAT gifts! we're soooo excited for the family to open them!

silly thought: i'm so happy that my parents have presents to open these days. i remember being a little kiddo and having tons of presents and giving mom and dad things like a coupon book for free hugs and kisses. now we have MONEY and can buy them presents ...

but now that we are GIVING and realizing the lovely joy of it, i understand how they were HAPPY to give-give-give all those toys and art projects, just to see us excited, and to receive popsicle-stick ornaments and milk-carton planters, from the kids they LOVE.

i am excited to be a parent. but in no hurry. :-)

so sleepy!

so, because i hadn't been sleeping well, i got put on this sedative sleeping pill thing today. because it can last so long, i was supposed to take it about 3 hours before bedtime, and now it's a couple hours later, and i'm getting ready to konk. nice, eh?

my life has been a crazy whirlwind of wonderfulness!

sunday: lunch with North Haven's youth pastor ... went well! i am excited about the ministry there!!! thanks for asking, chas! i should say more, but not tonight ...

monday: supper with megs and trixie, showed the house to allison (possible new roomie), coffee with des, whom i LOVE, wow.

tuesday: supper with megs and eir, Grand Avenue with the same, then Step Up with eir ... might i just say that i ADORE this girl? Lord Jesus, thank You for crafting us and our passions and senses of humor to match so wonderfully!

wednesday: doctor ... hence the sedatives, read in the Lodge with Linds for awhile, visited with trix, kimmie, and liz

... which brings us to now.

now: pray then read til i sleeeeeep ...

btw, finished 1984. i think i will now read the new YA novel i just bought online. hee hee.

quick update

... just in case i have readers.

slept in, whoops. woke up from a phone call from megs ... who was upstairs.

eir and i went to a sketchy warehouse jewelry sale in st. louis park. iiiiiinteresting. hope we aren't funding illegal activities with our bracelet purchases. (gracious, remember the mormon church sale? whoops!)

hung out with eir, megs, ... trixie worked on Christmas letters.

went to Matt's Bar with eir for jucy lucys ... mmm!

watched The Devil Wears Prada with eir and megs. it was ok. i love my job.

eir went home; megs is upstairs; trixie's asleep; i'm blogging and nervous about my lunch tomorrow with nick and mary whittenhall. sigh. i hope i can articulate how much i love teens.

i love life. i shall now read my lovely, cherished Bible ... and 1984. and sleep. and dream. i hope.

i am glad it is the weekend; i had a long but good day at work. three appointments and two meetings.

my lip hurts.

i feel ok with Christmas right now. sometimes i feel weird around Christmas, but tonight i feel ok.

prayer request

After church on Sunday, I am getting lunch with the youth pastor (Nick) and his wife (Mary) and, presumably, their PRECIOUS 6-month-old son (Noah). We're going to talk about my history with youth ministry and what North Haven's ministry program is like and where I might fit into it.

I'm REALLY hoping I will get to plug in with this youth group, and I'm just a little nervous about the lunch, so if you could please pray that God would work out His lovely plan, that would be fantastic.

saw the fam today.

we watched the first Pirates movie together. i feel like we do not EVER all 5 watch a movie together. mom and dad had never seen it; we kids saw it together years ago ... when it was first out on video.

chilled. wrapped Christmas presents. kevy has a sad ear.

it is SOOOOO nice out! it's almost WARM. i mean, for a Minnesota winter!

i am excited for church in the morning, and i am going to try the 20s and 30s sunday school class. hooray!

ash and tim might be coming up to the Cities tomorrow afternoon. hooray for that too.

and now ... back to work on my secret Christmas project. :-)

this morning, when i woke up, i ... was awake.

as opposed to MOST mornings: when i wake up, i am half-zombie, half-intoxicated-with-sleep, and i feel like, "uuuuuuuuggggggggghhhhhhhhh, i CAN'T do this!"

this morning, i was all, "uuuuuggghhhh, i ... am AWAKE!" it was wonderful.

i had a very productive day at work; however, i was so far behind that today kinda functioned as my "catch-up-enough-so-that-tomorrow-can-be-a-catch-up-day." phew.

sister's Christmas present came todaaaaaaaay! fa la la la la la la la la.

but the party was lots of fun! i love my south dakota students. we had a blast, and they wrote notes to my prospective students ... they are so great!

and now i have leftover party food. mmmm!

it's my sinuses. BLAH. i think i'm gonna pull through though! :-)
